Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres, spanning the arid deserts of Central Australia to the tropical monsoon regions of the Top End. The Corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, while providing water and wastewater services to urban centres, remote communities and Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Specialist Asset Engineer to join the IES Generation Asset Strategies and Risk team based in Darwin. The team is responsible for the strategic management of 56 remote power stations, together with their generation, fuel, renewable energy, distribution and balance-of-plant infrastructure, ensuring the ongoing delivery of reliable and sustainable power to some of Australia's most remote communities.

As the Specialist Asset Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the asset lifecycle, supporting condition assessment, risk management, asset performance analysis, lifecycle planning, capital investment planning and engineering investigations. Working closely with operations, maintenance and project delivery teams, you will develop asset strategies, business cases and practical engineering solutions that improve reliability, safety and whole-of-life performance.

The successful applicant will bring experience in asset management within an asset-intensive industry, together with strong analytical, technical and stakeholder engagement skills. Most importantly, you will have the ability to translate complex engineering challenges into practical, risk-based solutions that deliver long-term value for both the business and the communities we serve.

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will hold the following mandatory qualifications, skills and experience:

1. Mandatory minimum 3 or 4 year Science or Engineering degree recognised in Australia.
2. Highly developed financial and people management skills
3. Highly developed problem solving and analysis skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft
4. Excel (e.g. macros) or other database tools
5. Current Australian drivers licence or the ability to obtain
6. Experience in an asset management, maintenance management, or reliability role within an asset-intensive utility, industrial, or power generation environment.
7.



Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices associated with maintaining power generation assets ranging from 100 kW to 2 MW, including fuel systems, microgrids, associated electricity distribution infrastructure
8. Experience in analysis of asset failures, condition and performance
9. Demonstrated experience in project planning and management skills.
10. Sound working knowledge in the use of maintenance management and works management systems
