About the Business
YES Renovation and Carpentry is an established Melbourne-based property maintenance and improvement business providing services to residential and commercial clients. Our work includes property repairs, renovations, general maintenance, carpentry, plastering, painting, landscaping and associated property improvement services.
Due to continued growth in our maintenance and renovation workload, we are seeking a qualified Carpenter to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The Carpenter will undertake a range of skilled carpentry, repair, renovation and installation work across residential and commercial properties. The role will involve constructing, installing, maintaining and repairing timber, plywood, lightweight steel, wallboard and other building components as part of the company's property maintenance and renovation services.
The successful applicant will work independently and with other trades to complete projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
1. Study plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and installation requirements.
2. Measure, mark, cut and shape timber, plywood, lightweight steel and other materials.
3. Construct and install timber framing, partitions, wall structures and other building components.
4. Install and repair doors, window frames, skirting boards, architraves, mouldings and other fixtures.
5. Install wall and ceiling sheeting, cladding and other internal building materials.
6. Construct and install room divisions and other structures required for renovation and maintenance projects.
7. Undertake carpentry repairs to damaged or deteriorated structures, fixtures and fittings.
8. Complete renovation and refurbishment carpentry works for residential and commercial properties.
9.
Construct formwork where required for maintenance and renovation projects.
10. Cut and join timber components using appropriate carpentry techniques.
11. Select, prepare and handle materials appropriate to each job.
12. Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
13. Check completed work for alignment, dimensions, quality and compliance with project requirements.
14. Coordinate carpentry works with plasterers, painters, gardeners, maintenance staff and other trades.
15. Maintain clean, organised and secure work areas and comply with WHS requirements.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
1. Certificate III in Carpentry and Certificate IV in Building and Construction or an equivalent relevant qualification
2. At least one year of relevant carpentry experience
3. Practical experience in carpentry, property maintenance, renovations and repairs.
4. Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications.
5. Competence in measuring, cutting, shaping and joining timber and other materials.
6. Experience installing doors, frames, mouldings, partitions, cladding and other building fixtures.
7. Ability to identify and repair defects in existing structures and fittings.
8. Good understanding of construction methods and safe work practices.
9. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Valid White Card.
12. Valid driver's licence and reliable transport.
13. Ability to communicate in a language other than English will be an added advantage due to the multicultural nature of the team members and clientele of the company.
Employment Conditions
1. Full-time permanent position
2. 38 hours per week
3. $85,000 per annum + superannuation
4. Work across residential and commercial properties throughout Melbourne
5. Ongoing work with an established property maintenance business
