The role

As the Senior Business Support Officer, you will form part of a dynamic team responsible for providing proactive, responsive and effective administrative support across the Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the branch by coordinating governance documentation, preparing high quality ministerial briefing notes and communications, and supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities. Drawing on your experience in administration, executive support and coordination, you will contribute to program outcomes, maintain effective business operations and enable the successful delivery of branch priorities.

Your organisational, communication and customer service skills, and experience in administration, stakeholder engagement, project support or a similar professional environment, will be central to your success in this role. You will liaise professionally with internal staff, senior executives and external stakeholders, exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information and supporting governance processes.

You will bring to the role your expertise in meeting and event coordination, document preparation, executive support and stakeholder liaison, along with your ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate governance records, and adhere to strict compliance and reporting requirements. You will support a small, diverse and multidisciplinary team by coordinating workflows, preparing board and committee minutes, assisting with ministerial and executive correspondence, and contributing to projects, research activities and the continuous improvement of branch operations.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility

To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.

To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.
