Lead Complex Estimating Projects with a Respected Queensland Government Team

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a high-performing team in Mackay. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction estimating professional with solid leadership capabilities and extensive knowledge of building construction and maintenance projects. 1.9.26 - 27.11.26

In this role, you will lead and support a team of estimators while delivering complex and high-risk estimating projects that contribute to successful project outcomes across a diverse portfolio of building works.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support a team of Estimators and support staff to achieve project delivery objectives.
- Manage the delivery of estimating programs and projects, particularly those that are medium to high risk, significant or complex in nature.
- Prepare high-quality estimates, quotations and tender documentation for building construction and maintenance projects.
- Ensure compliance with State Purchasing Policy, Minor Works frameworks, procurement requirements and client specifications.
- Undertake research and development activities relating to project planning, budgeting, estimating methodologies, delivery processes and procurement practices.
- Monitor and report on estimating activities, including project volumes, client requests, acceptance rates, costs, schedules of rates, margins and productivity.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, negotiation and professional service delivery.
- Promote a safe and inclusive workplace, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and contemporary human resource practices.
- Proactively manage team performance, development and conduct.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:





- Extensive experience preparing and managing complex estimates within a building construction and maintenance environment.
- Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of building construction practices, maintenance activities and project delivery methodologies.
- Thorough understanding of relevant legislative, regulatory and contract requirements governing construction projects.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, planning and reporting capabilities.
- A commitment to workplace safety, diversity and continuous improvement.
