Summary

Westcare Early Learning Centre is a purpose-built early childhood education and care centre located in Camden Park, South Australia. The centre provides quality education and care to children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years in a safe, nurturing and engaging environment.

About the Role

Westcare Early Learning Centre is seeking an experienced and motivated Child Care Worker (Group Leader) to lead an allocated room and provide high-quality education and care to children.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting children’s learning and development, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and guiding educators working within the allocated room.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Lead the day-to-day education and care of children within an allocated room.

• Plan, implement and evaluate age-appropriate educational and learning experiences in accordance with the EYLF.

• Prepare and organise learning materials, equipment and activities to support children’s development.

• Implement child-led and play-based learning experiences that encourage children’s curiosity, independence and participation.

• Apply Montessori-inspired principles and practices when planning and delivering learning experiences.

• Provide responsive care and support children’s individual developmental, emotional and wellbeing needs.

• Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and educators.

• Supervise children and maintain a safe,



healthy and inclusive learning environment.

• Support children’s daily routines, including meals, rest, hygiene and transitions.

• Observe and document children’s development and contribute to individual learning records and program planning.

• Encourage children’s cooperation, confidence, independence and positive social behaviour.

• Guide and support educators within the allocated room to deliver consistent and high-quality education and care.

• Communicate effectively with families and other educators regarding children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

• Maintain practices consistent with the National Quality Framework, EYLF, centre policies and relevant health and safety requirements.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent/higher relevant qualification; OR at least three (3) years of relevant work experience where permitted to substitute for the qualification.

• Minimum one (1) year of demonstrated experience as a Child Care Group Leader, Room Leader or in a comparable early childhood leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day operation of an allocated room.

• Demonstrated experience leading and supporting educators within an allocated room, including coordinating daily routines, maintaining appropriate supervision and supporting consistent delivery of education and care.

• Demonstrated experience contributing to the planning, implementation, observation, documentation and evaluation of children's learning and development in accordance with an approved early learning framework.

• Current Working with Children Check (WWCC),



or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.

• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications, or ability to obtain and maintain the required certifications.

• Sound understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

• Understanding of the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards.

• Ability to lead and support educators within an early childhood room.

• Knowledge of, or practical experience implementing, Montessori-inspired early childhood learning practices.

• Valuable communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

• Commitment to providing high-quality education, care and support to children.
