About the role

A Ranger will support working in a team of staff to deliver high quality services in line with the District Action Plan, with support and under the direction of the Ranger Team Leader.

This position will work as a key member of the Southern Mallee Operations team in delivering on-ground services. Supporting work practices and ensure compliance with relevant specifications such as Parks Victoria's policies and procedures. You'll demonstrate a robust personal work ethic for team members to follow and ensure that District employees maintain a high standard of personal accountability and compliance with the Code of Conduct.

Ranger (Field Services) are responsible for supporting the team, to inspire enthusiasm, to ensure safety and welfare and to ensure other team members are appreciated for their efforts. Responsible for ‘hands on' work which includes sometimes leading and managing the team which may include ongoing employees, contractors, casuals, temporary staff and/or volunteers.

We're looking for someone who:

- Displays sound understanding of organisational purpose, directions and governance for managing the parks estate and applies these in day to day and longer term work.
- Has a clear perception of own personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions, and actively practices self-management of both performance and behaviour.
- Willingly cooperates and works collaboratively towards solutions that generally benefit all involved parties and to accomplish organisational objectives.




- Supports and promotes an environment that holds opportunities for all, regardless of race, gender, culture, and age.
- Establishes a systematic course of action for self and/or others to ensure accomplishment of specific objectives.
- Provides consistent quality service to customers in line with organisational objectives.

2. A cover letter addressing the following Selection Criteria as outlined on page 3 & 4 of the position description:

- Plant, chainsaw and machinery operation experience.
- Demonstrated practical skills in the maintenance and operation of machinery, small equipment and tools.
- Demonstrated skills in the maintenance and construction of a range of facilities, including, signs, campgrounds, fences and walking tracks.
- Trade related skills.
- Demonstrated experience in self-management.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
