The role
As a Senior Project Officer, you will form part of a dynamic team responsible for researching strategic issues, coordinating initiatives and preparing high quality advice, correspondence and reports to support the Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program. Drawing on your experience in project coordination, policy development, research and stakeholder engagement, you will play a vital role in supporting the operational delivery of program objectives, contributing to initiatives that promote mentally healthy, respectful and safe workplaces across Western Australia’s mining sector.
Your project coordination, analytical and communication skills, and experience in program management, stakeholder engagement or a related field, will be key to your success in this role. You will apply your knowledge of contemporary Work Health and Safety legislation including psychosocial hazard requirements to ensure project activities align with regulatory expectations and support improved safety and wellbeing outcomes.
You will bring to the role your capability in end to end project delivery, including planning, fiscal management, monitoring progress, meeting reporting requirements and maintaining accurate project documentation. You will also support the administration of government grants and funded initiatives by tracking deliverables, applying governance processes and liaising with external providers to ensure compliance and timely outcomes. Your ability to evaluate complex information, develop evidence based recommendations, build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the successful delivery of operational projects will be essential to achieving the MARS Program’s strategic objectives.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia or have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
To work for LGIRS, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, LGIRS will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.

- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver operational project activities within a government environment, including taking ownership of end-to-end project delivery, managing fiscal components, monitoring progress against milestones, and meeting reporting and documentation requirements for funded initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health, safety and wellbeing requirements, including an applied understanding of contemporary Work Health and Safety legislation, psychosocial hazard obligations, and the ability to integrate these requirements into day‑to‑day project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to administer government grants and funded programs, including managing high value agreements, tracking deliverables,
supporting governance and assurance processes, and working with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve compliant and timely project outcomes.
