We are HCLTech, one of the fastest-growing large tech companies in the world and home to 219,000+ people across 54 countries, supercharging progress through industry-leading capabilities centered around Digital, Engineering and Cloud.
We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA ePP/DS Specialist to lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of advanced production planning and detailed scheduling capabilities within SAP S/4HANA Embedded PP/DS.
In this role, you will serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for production planning and scheduling, helping deliver a modern supply planning solution that replaces legacy SAP APO PP/DS capabilities and integrates seamlessly with SAP IBP Response & Supply.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, integration teams, and delivery leadership to enable feasible, capacity-constrained production plans while supporting large-scale SAP transformation initiatives.
Job Summary:
· The SAP S/4HANA ePP/DS Specialist will serve as the functional subject matter expert for detailed production planning and scheduling within SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS.
· Will design, configure, validate, and deploy advanced planning capabilities that replace legacy SAP APO PP/DS while integrating with SAP IBP Response & Supply for end-to-end supply planning.
· Will enable feasible production plans through finite capacity planning, resource scheduling, component availability checks, pegging, alerts, maintenance calendar integration, campaign planning, and scenario simulation.
· Provide solution leadership across blueprinting, fit-gap analysis, configuration, testing, cutover, hypercare, and knowledge transition to BAU support teams.
· Engage with production planners, material planners, supply network planners, architects, integration teams, BASIS/security, and PMO stakeholders to ensure the solution is fit-to-standard, scalable, secure, and operationally supportable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solution Design & Fit-to-Standard
· Lead detailed design workshops for SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS covering production planning, finite scheduling, capacity evaluation, pegging, and planner exception management.
· Translate business requirements and user stories into functional designs, configuration objects, test scenarios, and deployment-ready solution documentation.
· Drive fit-to-standard decisions and clearly document any gaps, enhancements, integrations, reports, forms, workflows, or extensions required for business outcomes.
· Partner with solution architects to align ePP/DS design with SAP IBP Response & Supply, S/4HANA execution, master data governance, and reporting platforms.
2. Advanced Production Planning & Scheduling
· Configure and validate PP/DS planning processes for plant, production line, resource, SKU, and time-horizon based planning views.
· Enable manual and automated replanning of planned/process orders while ensuring downstream impacts are recalculated for capacity, materials, inventory, and procurement proposals.
· Implement finite capacity planning, resource leveling, alternate resource logic, scheduling constraints, and conflict resolution for shared equipment or constrained resources.
· Support production scenario creation and comparison using PP/DS versions, simulation capabilities, and impact assessment against KPIs such as capacity utilisation, delays, inventory, and material requirements.
3. Capacity, Resource & Maintenance Integration
· Model resource capacities, calendars, operating rates, shifts,
downtimes, maintenance shutdowns, and availability constraints within the PP/DS planning model.
· Configure alerts and exception views for planned load exceeding available capacity, with drill-down to contributing orders, operations, SKUs, runtime, and share of load.
· Support planner decision-making through recommended corrective actions such as rescheduling, alternate resource selection, additional capacity, or capacity leveling proposals.
· Ensure production plans respect resource unavailability and generate meaningful system messages when production is scheduled during maintenance or shutdown periods.
4. Component Availability, Pegging & Material Feasibility
· Configure component availability checks, pegging relationships, material coverage analysis, and exception monitoring for missing or late components.
· Enable visibility from production plan to material reservations, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, stock, quality status, and scheduled receipts.
· Support what-if analysis for production quantity/date changes, alternative suppliers, substitute materials, and lead-time assumptions.
· Collaborate with material planning and procurement teams to ensure feasible plans and early shortage identification.
5. Campaign Planning, Sequencing & Product Release
· Design and configure planning logic for production campaigns, sequence-dependent setup, changeover minimisation, and grouping of products with common production characteristics.
· Incorporate product release times such as quality inspection, lab testing, hold periods, and shelf-life constraints into production planning and backward scheduling logic.
· Validate that finished goods availability dates reflect production time, QA release time, and downstream demand requirements.
6. Integration, Testing & Deployment
· Define and validate integration touchpoints between SAP IBP Response & Supply, SAP S/4HANA ePP/DS, master data, transactional data, BW/analytics, and middleware services.
· Support unit testing, system integration testing, end-to-end testing, regression testing, performance validation, data validation, UAT preparation, and defect resolution.
· Contribute to cutover planning, transport management, security role validation, go-live readiness, production validation testing, hypercare, and Level 3 support transition.
· Prepare functional specifications, configuration workbooks, process flows, test scripts, training materials, as-built documentation, and KT materials.
Required Qualifications:
· 10+ years of SAP supply chain planning experience with strong hands-on expertise in SAP APO PP/DS and SAP S/4HANA embedded PP/DS.
· At least 2 full lifecycle implementations or major transformation programs involving SAP S/4HANA ePP/DS, APO PP/DS migration, or advanced production scheduling.
· Deep understanding of production planning, detailed scheduling, finite capacity planning, resource modeling, pegging, heuristics, optimisation concepts, alerts, and exception management.
· Strong knowledge of PP master data including materials, BOMs, routings/recipes, production versions, work centers/resources,
calendars, PDS, and planning parameters.
· Experience integrating ePP/DS with SAP IBP , SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing, MM, QM, EWM/WM, and procurement processes.
· Ability to lead workshops, conduct fit-gap analysis, write functional specifications, support testing, resolve defects, and communicate solution decisions clearly.
· Excellent English communication skills, strong analytical capability, and proven ability to work with geographically distributed business and IT teams.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience with SAP IBP , OBP integration, deployment planning, and supply-demand balancing processes.
· Exposure to SAP BTP Integration Suite, CPI-DS/RTI, OData/SOAP APIs, middleware monitoring, and data integration error handling.
· Experience in consumer products, Food & beverages, or process industries with complex capacity, campaign, and quality release constraints.
· Knowledge of planning analytics, KPI dashboards, OTIF, plan attainment, capacity utilisation, and planner exception reporting.
· Familiarity with fit-to-standard methodology, Agile/Accelerate delivery stages, PMO governance, qTest or equivalent test management tools, and AMS transition processes.
Expected Deliverables:
· ePP/DS solution design and fit-gap assessment aligned to business requirements and standard SAP capability.
· Configuration workbooks, master data design, integration mapping, functional specifications, and test scripts.
· Validated production planning and detailed scheduling solution including capacity, pegging, alerts, scenarios, maintenance calendars, campaigns, and product release time.
· Cutover, hypercare, training, as-built documentation, and Level 3 support transition materials.
