Suspension Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Suspension Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our Head Office in Brendale.

This is an opportunity to lead the development of suspension systems from concept through to production, delivering innovative products that perform in some of the toughest environments while meeting customer expectations, regulatory requirements and commercial objectives.

You'll become the technical lead on suspension projects, working closely with internal stakeholders, manufacturing partners and suppliers to deliver products that strengthen the TJM brand.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you'll lead the design, development and validation of suspension products while ensuring projects progress efficiently through the product development process.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Lead the design and development of innovative suspension products, ensuring compliance with relevant Australian and international standards.

- Drive projects through the complete product development lifecycle, ensuring gateway requirements, documentation and approvals are completed on schedule.

- Manage Design Verification Plans (DVPs),



ensuring appropriate validation criteria, testing and product specifications are achieved prior to release.

- Plan, coordinate and participate in prototype builds, vehicle fitment, testing and product validation activities.

- Produce technical documentation including engineering drawings, bills of materials, fitting instructions, testing reports and production release documentation.

- Design for multiple manufacturing locations, considering cost, manufacturability, tooling and material selection.

- Support off-tool sample validation and ensure production components meet design intent.

- Develop jigs, fixtures and tooling where required to support manufacturing and testing.

- Manage engineering change requests throughout the product lifecycle.

- Act as the technical point of contact for suspension-related projects across the business.

- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing and Operations teams to deliver successful product outcomes.

- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

- Drive continuous improvement through innovative engineering solutions and improved development processes.

About You

You're an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and seeing products progress from concept to production. You combine strong engineering fundamentals with practical workshop experience and understand what it takes to develop reliable, high-performing automotive products.

You'll bring:

- Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

- Experience in automotive product development, ideally within the 4WD, suspension or vehicle accessory industry.

- Strong understanding of suspension geometry, suspension tuning and GVM upgrade systems.

- Experience designing automotive components including suspension, chassis,



drivetrain or related vehicle systems.

- Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks and 3D CAD modelling.

- Experience using SolidWorks PDM or similar document management systems.

- Sound knowledge of tooling, machining, fabrication, welding, manufacturing processes and assembly operations.

- Understanding of engineering drawings, tolerancing and production documentation.

- Experience preparing Bills of Materials, engineering change requests and fitting instructions.

- Ability to manufacture prototype components using workshop equipment, including lathe work where required.

- Practical hands-on experience fitting, modifying and validating products on vehicles.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.

- A commitment to quality, continuous improvement and delivering projects within agreed timeframes.

The following would be highly regarded:

- Experience with GVM upgrade systems.

- LS15 Modification Certification capability.

- Knowledge of plastic product design.

- Experience maintaining engineering testing equipment.

- Experience working with international manufacturing partners.
