Electrical Process Control Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Process Control Engineer to join our Engineering Projects team at Smeaton Grange.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development and commissioning of automation systems, special purpose machinery and robotic cells, using Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PLC systems.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting electrical and automation control systems from concept through to commissioning.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing electrical and automation control systems for special purpose machinery and robotic cells including R&D.;
- Developing and maintaining PLC programs and control systems.
- Developing and configuring HMI systems and operator interfaces.
- Selecting electrical, control and automation components.
- Supporting machine and robotic system commissioning.
- Developing electrical, control, operating and installation documentation.
- Supporting robotics, PLC and control systems for LaserBond production and technology partners.
- Working with engineering, production teams, suppliers and technology partners to deliver projects safely, efficiently and on time.
- Troubleshooting and improving existing automation and control systems.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring designs and projects meet relevant quality, safety and WH&S; standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years' experience in a similar electrical, automation or process control engineering role.
- Strong electrical control system design experience.
- Experience with HMI and industrial automation systems.
- Experience with robotics and/or special purpose machinery is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a project team.
- A high level of initiative, attention to detail and professional accountability.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Process Control or a related discipline would be advantageous, but relevant industry experience will also be highly valued.
