About the Role
The Health and Safety Support and Systems Advisor will support the ongoing implementation, improvement and consistent application of CFA's health and safety management systems and processes through facilitation, mentoring, education and practical advice. The role will work across CFA, with a specific focus on supporting health and safety outcomes at the Burwood East Headquarters precinct.
The role supports the Health and Safety Systems Manager to maintain CFA's incident reporting system and improve the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS). This includes developing and updating procedures, work instructions and other safety documents, managing document control, leading consultation and working with business areas to build health and safety into their planning and day-to-day work.
The role will also act as the primary health and safety advisor for the Burwood East Headquarters precinct, providing practical advice, guidance and support to managers and employees and assisting with the identification, management and local resolution of health and safety matters. Through solid relationships and a proactive approach, the role will help build safety capability, strengthen compliance and support a positive and consistent health and safety culture across CFA.
About you
- A tertiary qualification in a Health & Safety or related discipline and/or significant experience in a similar type role.
- Expert knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safety, quality or environmental management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and continual improvement of a Health and Safety management system designed to comply with Australian or International Standards; and Certification as an internal auditor or experience in Health & Safety systems auditing.
- Highly developed capacity to build and maintain relationships with individuals and teams in different parts and levels of an organisation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including highly developed written and verbal skills. demonstrated by the ability to prepare complex and technical business documents and detailed reports suitable for a wide range of audiences.
- Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to be self-directed, set priorities and meet tight work demands with a proven capacity to work with minimal supervision and achieve outcomes on time.
- Comprehensive computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications and experience in coordinating and delivering projects.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability with the ability to think laterally and have experience in the resolution of complex issues.
