We're looking for an experienced Medicare Officer to join Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) in a fully remote role that can be based anywhere in New South Wales.

About the role
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, you'll be responsible for ensuring Medicare claims are processed accurately, ethically and efficiently, helping maximise legitimate Medicare revenue while maintaining compliance with Medicare requirements.
You'll work closely with our clinical, finance and administration teams to improve claiming processes, resolve issues and support staff with Medicare requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing and submitting Medicare claims accurately and on time.
- Managing rejected, outstanding and unpaid claims.
- Reconciling Medicare payments and reporting on claiming performance.
- Providing guidance to staff on Medicare billing requirements.
- Monitoring compliance with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve claiming processes and reduce revenue leakage.
- Supporting the organisation with accurate records and reporting.
What we're looking for
You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in Medicare claiming, medical billing or practice administration.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience reconciling claims and resolving billing issues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence supporting clinical staff.
- Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, General Practice or primary healthcare setting will be highly regarded.
