Head Chef – Full Time

Kondalilla Eco Resort & Restaurant | Sunshine Coast Hinterland

An exciting prospect is available for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen at Kondalilla Eco Resort & Restaurant, nestled amongst the rainforest in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

We are looking for a hands-on culinary leader who takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food, developing their team and creating memorable dining experiences.

This is an important leadership position within our resort and would suit an experienced Head Chef who enjoys being part of a team while working collaboratively with Management.

About the Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the overall operation and performance of the kitchen, from menu development and food quality through to staffing, ordering, stock control and food costs.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading, training and supporting our kitchen team while maintaining a professional and positive working environment

- Developing and maintaining menus that showcase fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce

- Ensuring consistently high standards of food preparation, presentation, portioning and service

- Maintaining consistency across breakfast, lunch and dinner service

- Managing food costs, portion control, wastage and kitchen profitability

- Managing stock, ordering, supplier relationships and inventory

- Maintaining appropriate staffing levels and kitchen rostering

- Ensuring food safety, hygiene and workplace standards are consistently maintained

- Overseeing kitchen preparation and organisation to ensure smooth and efficient service

- Working collaboratively with the Events & Restaurant Manager on functions, celebrations, retreats and group dining

- Supporting menu development for events and special dining experiences





- Working closely with Resort Management to continually improve the overall guest experience

- Contributing ideas and creativity while ensuring menus remain commercially viable and achievable for the kitchen team

About You

We are looking for someone who brings strong culinary skills, mature leadership, and sound commercial awareness.

Ideally, you will have:

- Significant experience as a Head Chef or senior culinary leader in a quality restaurant, hotel or resort environment

- Formal culinary qualifications and relevant industry experience

- Strong leadership and people-management skills

- Excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation and contemporary dining trends

- A genuine passion for fresh, flavoursome food and quality local produce

- Strong understanding of food costs, stock control, ordering and waste management

- The ability to develop menus that are both creative and commercially sustainable

- Excellent organisational and time-management skills

- The ability to remain calm and lead effectively during busy services

- A collaborative approach to working with Front of House, Events and Resort Management

- High standards of cleanliness, food safety and kitchen organisation

- Reliability, accountability and pride in the performance of your kitchen
