Senior Accountant - Business Advisory

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Business Advisory division. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client portfolio, provide high-level tax and business advisory services, and mentor junior team members while developing your own professional expertise.
About the Role As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services to a broad range of clients. Working closely with Managers and Directors, you will manage client relationships, provide technical expertise, and contribute to the ongoing success of the team.
Key Responsibilities Accounting & Taxation
- Prepare financial statements, income tax returns, and special purpose reports for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
- Prepare and review BAS, IAS, GST, PAYG, and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
- Conduct technical tax research and provide solutions for complex tax matters.
- Assist with payroll tax, ATO, and superannuation audits and reviews.
- Prepare and review journals, reconciliations, and supporting working papers.
- Review financial statements and ensure compliance with relevant accounting and taxation requirements.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of clients across a variety of industries.
- Participate in client meetings and provide practical business and tax advice.
- Respond to client queries relating to accounting software, taxation matters, and business operations.
- Work collaboratively with Managers and Directors on complex advisory matters including CGT and small business concessions.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the client experience and add value to client relationships.
Team & Practice Development
- Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to junior team members.
- Assist with workflow management and effective delegation of work.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and best practice procedures.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and technical training.
- Assist with WIP management, fee preparation, and achieving productivity targets.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification completed.
- Proven experience in an Australian Business Services and Tax Advisory workplace.
- Robust technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, APS, or similar platforms.
