Kiind is a family-led, independent peer support organisation with almost 40 years of operation. We support 7,000+ Western Australian families raising children living with disability, autism and developmental concerns. Our experienced Peer Navigation team have extensive knowledge of the health, disability and education systems and help families find the answers they are looking for to best support the needs of their child. Our Peer Support and Capacity Building programs provide families with opportunities to connect with others who understand their experiences, build knowledge and confidence, develop practical skills and access information and resources to help them navigate life raising a child with disability. Through parent support groups, peer connection, training, workshops and capacity building resources, we help families feel more informed, connected and empowered. Through active systemic advocacy, we help decision makers understand the experiences of children with disability and their families. We seek to influence policy, legislation and service design.
About the role
Kiind is seeking an experienced Peer Support and Capacity Building Lead to lead our capacity building and peer support pillar. This role leads the planning, development, coordination and delivery of programs that strengthen the knowledge, confidence, connection and resilience of parents and carers raising children with disability. The role builds the capacity of families and peer workers, creates meaningful opportunities for parent-to-parent support and ensures families are connected with the information, resources, services and communities they need to thrive. You will lead a team of casual parent support group facilitators and work collaboratively with Kiind staff, external subject matter experts, community organisations and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, accessible and responsive programs. You will also contribute to program evaluation,
reporting and continuous improvement to ensure our programs are effective and responsive to the needs of families.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, development and delivery of Kiind's peer support and capacity building programs, ensuring they are informed by and responsive to the lived experience of families
- Develop accessible training content, resources and workshops for parents and carers of children with disability, drawing on lived experience insights and family voice
- Coordinate and facilitate parent support groups, training, workshops, MyTime and other peer support activities (in person and online), ensuring peer connection and lived experience are central to all activities
- Ensure safe, ethical practice including safeguarding, privacy, risk management and cultural safety
- Work with the Communications Team to promote programs and increase community engagement, amplifying the voices and experiences of families
- Contribute to monitoring, reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement, incorporating feedback and lived experience insights to strengthen program impact
- Maintain accurate CRM records and support service mapping and system improvements to better reflect the needs and experiences of families
- Represent Kiind at relevant networks, forums and sector events, sharing the perspectives and lived experience of families
- Contribute to projects, resources and other organisational initiatives as required
About you
- Strong, positive leadership skills and demonstrated experience managing, supervising and supporting staff
- A strong understanding of peer support principles and the value of lived experience and parent-to-parent connection
- Competency with Microsoft Office Suite,
including Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in disability, community development, social work, child and family services or another relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Desirable – lived experience as a parent or family member of a person with disability
