About the role
The Electrician is responsible for the installation, testing, fault-finding, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment across Allied Interest's commercial and industrial sites. The role requires a fully licensed, safety-conscious tradesperson who can work independently, read and interpret technical drawings, and deliver work to code and to a high standard of workmanship.
Key responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test and repair electrical wiring, switchboards, distribution boards, control systems and associated equipment in line with relevant Australian Standards and the Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000).
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently, minimising downtime for clients and site operations.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications and work orders.
- Carry out testing and tagging, RCD testing and other compliance checks as required.
- Complete accurate job documentation, including compliance certificates, test results, timesheets and materials used.
- Liaise professionally with site supervisors, other trades, clients and Allied Interest management.
- Identify and order materials required for jobs,
and manage stock and equipment responsibly.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area, and ensure all work is carried out in accordance with WHS legislation and Allied Interest's safety procedures.
- Mentor and supervise apprentices where required, ensuring protected work practices are followed.
- Participate in toolbox talks, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology (Electrician) or equivalent.
- Current unrestricted electrical licence (or equivalent recognised in the relevant state).
- Current driver's licence.
- White Card (construction induction).
- Test and Tag qualification (desirable).
- Working at heights and EWP tickets (desirable).
- Minimum 3 years' post-trade experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical work.
- Sound working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and other relevant Australian Standards and codes of practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across a range of electrical systems.
