The Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Principal – Tyres, you will play a critical role in improving operational performance across Thiess' global mining operations. Acting as a group-wide subject matter expert, you will support sites in enhancing asset performance, reducing damage, improving reliability and optimising a significant annual spend in tyre and tyre-related assets.

This role sits at the intersection of operations, asset management, supply chain and continuous improvement. You will work closely with site leaders, maintenance teams, suppliers and technical specialists to identify opportunities that improve productivity and reduce operational costs throughout the mining value chain, from material extraction through to product delivery.

As a highly visible group role, extensive travel to domestic and international operations will be required to support sites, drive best practice and implement performance improvement initiatives.

Additionally, you will:

- Lead operational performance improvement initiatives that enhance asset utilisation, reliability and tyre life across global operations.
- Partner with site teams to identify and address factors contributing to asset damage, operational inefficiencies and unplanned costs.
- Optimise tyre application strategies across varying mining environments to maximise performance and minimise total cost of ownership.
- Analyse operational conditions including haul roads, loading practices, cycle times, payloads and maintenance activities to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive standardisation of tyre and asset management practices across Thiess operations globally.
- Collaborate with supply chain, operations and maintenance teams to improve asset lifecycle performance and value.
- Use operational and fleet data to identify trends,



benchmark performance and translate insights into practical site-level actions.
- Lead trials of emerging technologies, products and solutions that support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Develop capability within site teams through coaching, mentoring and knowledge sharing.

About You

You are an operationally focused mining professional who understands how asset performance impacts productivity, cost and operational outcomes. You bring strong commercial awareness, mechanical aptitude and a passion for identifying practical solutions that deliver measurable improvements.

You will also have:

- Experience in mining operations, maintenance, asset management, reliability, heavy mobile equipment, or related operational environments.
- An understanding of operational performance drivers and continuous improvement principles, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve asset utilisation and productivity.
- Experience supporting operational improvement initiatives and delivering practical outcomes in complex environments.
- An appreciation for the mining value chain and how operational decisions influence performance, cost and reliability outcomes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in equipment performance, reliability and lifecycle optimisation.
- The ability to analyse operational data, identify trends and contribute to sustainable improvement initiatives.
- Experience engaging with site teams, suppliers, contractors and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all organisational levels.
- A willingness and ability to travel across domestic and international operations
