About the opportunity:

RSPCA South Australia has a unique opportunity for an experienced Animal Behaviour Officer to join our growing Behaviour Team on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Behaviour Team Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the welfare, rehabilitation and successful rehoming of animals in our care. Working closely with our Veterinary and Animal Care teams, you will undertake behavioural assessments, develop evidence-based behaviour modification and enrichment plans, and provide expert guidance to support informed decisions about animal outcomes.

You will also have the opportunity to make an impact beyond the shelter, delivering education and training and providing behavioural support to staff, volunteers, foster carers, adopters and members of the community.

About you:

You are passionate about animal behaviour and committed to achieving positive outcomes for animals in our care.



You bring strong behavioural knowledge, practical experience and a collaborative approach, with the ability to turn your expertise into practical, evidence-based support for animals and the people who care for them.

As our successful candidate, you will have:

- A Bachelor of Science (Animal Behaviour), Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training, or an equivalent qualification.

- Demonstrated experience working in an animal behaviour role (two or more years desirable).

- Sound knowledge of animal behaviour, body language assessment and behaviour modification techniques, with practical experience working with at least one domestic species (experience across multiple species is highly regarded).

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present information and deliver training to a variety of audiences.

- The flexibility to work across a seven-day roster, including weekends.
