Professionals Australia is looking for an Assessment Coordinator – Engineering to join our team and play a key role in the delivery, improvement and growth of our Engineer Assessment Program.
This is not simply an administration role.
We are looking for someone who is curious, adaptable and comfortable working autonomously. You will coordinate engineering assessments within regulated frameworks, while also helping us improve systems and processes, enhance the applicant and member experience, and identify opportunities to grow and strengthen the program.
If you enjoy learning new systems, improving how things work, taking an idea and turning it into action, and providing an excellent customer experience, we would love to hear from you.
About Professionals Australia
Professionals Australia is a forward-thinking union representing more than 20,000 professionals across Australia, with a significant membership base within the engineering profession.
Our Engineer Assessment Program provides degree-qualified engineers with accessible, practical and high-quality pathways to professional registration. Professionals Australia is an approved assessment entity for statutory engineer registration schemes, as well as delivering our national RPEng credential.
About the role
As our Assessment Coordinator – Engineering, you will take ownership of the day-to-day coordination of engineering assessments from application through to completion.
Working within a regulated environment, you will ensure assessments are delivered accurately, efficiently and in accordance with relevant requirements. Just as importantly, you will be encouraged to look beyond the day-to-day and identify ways we can make the program better.
You will work across program coordination, compliance, systems and process improvement, applicant and member experience, stakeholder engagement and program growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the end-to-end assessment journey, including applications,
documentation, communications, timelines, assessor allocation and outcomes.
- Managing your workload autonomously, progressing matters proactively and exercising sound judgement about when issues require escalation.
- Ensuring assessment activities meet relevant statutory, quality and compliance requirements.
- Identifying inefficiencies and opportunities to simplify, streamline and improve processes.
- Contributing to the implementation, testing and ongoing improvement of systems, digital tools and workflows.
- Looking at the assessment journey from the applicant's perspective and identifying opportunities to improve their experience.
- Building effective relationships with engineers, assessors, committee members, regulators and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Working closely with other teams to support the promotion and growth of the assessment program.
- Confidently communicating the benefits of Professionals Australia membership and identifying appropriate opportunities to convert applicants into members.
- Using program data, applicant feedback and emerging trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Supporting reporting, quality assurance, audits and the Assessment Committee.
- Contributing ideas and taking an active role in new initiatives as the program continues to evolve.
About you
You don't need to be an engineer.
What is more important to us is that you are someone who takes ownership, learns quickly and enjoys making things work better.
You will ideally bring:
- Demonstrated experience coordinating a program,
service, operational function or complex end-to-end process.
- A high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously without requiring continual direction.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to investigate issues and develop practical solutions.
- Experience identifying and implementing process or service improvements.
- Confidence learning new systems, platforms and processes, with an interest in using technology to improve how work is delivered.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and experience working within quality, regulatory or compliance requirements.
- A strong customer or member experience mindset.
- Confidence discussing the value of services or membership with customers or prospective members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build productive relationships with a range of people.
- An adaptable mindset and genuine enthusiasm for change, new ideas and continuous improvement.
Experience within a membership organisation, professional association, education, accreditation, assessment, registration or regulated environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Experience with CRM systems, workflow platforms, digital transformation, sales, membership growth or business development would also be highly regarded.
What we offer
- Hybrid working arrangements, including working from home.
- Generous leave provisions.
- Additional paid leave between Christmas and Current Year.
- The opportunity to take genuine ownership of your work and contribute ideas.
- Exposure to program improvement, systems development and growth initiatives.
- The opportunity to work within an important national program supporting Australia's engineering profession.
