Fitzroy

This isn't a marketing job where you hand everything over to someone else.

We're looking for a hands on Marketing & Communications Lead who can make good recommendations, write exceptionally well, turn ideas into engaging content, collaborate across the organisation and confidently deliver campaigns across digital channels.

MIECAT is a small, specialist higher education provider with a strong sense of purpose. We offer postgraduate education in Therapeutic Arts Practice (Creative Arts Therapy), alongside public programs and short courses.

You'll work closely with colleagues across MIECAT to build our profile, connect with stakeholders and communities, support public programs and alumni engagement, and strengthen how we communicate what we do.

What you'll do

A key measure of success will be contributing to growth in applications, enrolments and participation across MIECAT's programs through effective marketing, communications and audience engagement.

- Plan and deliver marketing and communications campaigns.

- Manage marketing calendar and coordinate activity across the organisation.

- Write and develop engaging content.

- Manage social media, website and digital communications.

- Use CRM and digital marketing systems to support audience engagement.

- Conduct market and audience research to inform our marketing and new program development.

- Monitor performance and use insights to improve what we do.

- Improve our marketing systems, processes and workflows.

About MIECAT

We're a small organisation and a small team. There isn't a large marketing department, you'll be the primary person responsible for MIECAT's day-to-day marketing and communications.

That has some great advantages. You'll work closely with people across the Institute, have genuine visibility across the organisation and have the opportunity to shape systems and processes rather than inherit a giant machine.

About the role

You'll be doing a lot of the creating yourself. You'll work with colleagues across the Institute to gather ideas, information and stories, and sometimes shape or edit content they've prepared. We're looking for someone who is comfortable taking an idea, turning it into good content or a campaign, and getting it out the door.

Some days you'll be thinking about campaign performance and audience journeys. Other days you'll be writing an EDM, configuring our CRM, chasing content, updating a webpage or providing analytics to senior leadership for management meetings.

You need to be someone who can move between the strategic and the practical without thinking that either is beneath you.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings strong marketing and communications experience, excellent writing skills and a good understanding of how different channels work together.

You'll ideally have:

- Experience developing and delivering integrated marketing and communications campaigns.

- Strong copywriting, editing and storytelling skills,

with the ability to turn complex ideas into engaging content.

- Experience managing websites, social media, EDMs and other digital communications.

- Experience using CRM and digital marketing systems to support audience engagement and campaign delivery.

- A practical understanding of marketing analytics and audience insights.

- Robust organisation and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Confidence working independently while building productive relationships across a small organisation.

- A curious and proactive approach, with an interest in improving systems, workflows and ways of working.

Experience in higher education, arts, creative practice, community or not-for-profit environments would be highly regarded.

Experience with WordPress, CRM administration or automation, and analytics platforms would also be useful.

What we offer

- Salary packaging/salary sacrificing

- Competitive salary

- A collaborative, values-driven environment

- Work-life balance, including the option to work from home three days a week

- Generous leave policy

- Fitzroy office location

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a cover letter telling us about your experience and why this role interests you.

We'd particularly like to hear about a marketing or communications project you're proud of, what you were trying to achieve, what you did and what happened as a result.

Applications close Monday, 31st August 2026.
