Cultural Services Assistant
- Casual position
- $35.81 per hour + superannuation and casual loading
Help bring Wodonga’s events and cultural activities to life.
As a Cultural Services Assistant, you’ll be part of the team behind Council’s community events, functions and cultural activities, providing the practical support that helps everything come together. From setting up venues and equipment to assisting volunteers and welcoming community members, this is a varied, hands-on role where no two events are quite the same.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, working with people and being part of events that create positive experiences for the community.
Key aspects of the role:
- Bring events and activities to life
Help transform event spaces by setting up furniture, equipment, signage, displays and other resources ready for the day ahead. During events, provide practical support as needed before assisting with pack down and returning venues and equipment to their required condition.
- Keep equipment and event operations moving
Take a hands-on role in transporting, loading, unloading and storing event equipment and resources. Routine equipment checks, organised event spaces and a willingness to respond to changing requirements will help keep activities running safely and smoothly.
- Support volunteers and work as part of the event team
Work alongside employees, volunteers and contractors to deliver successful community events. This includes helping volunteers understand their tasks, demonstrating routine procedures and providing practical support so everyone can contribute safely and confidently.
- Create a positive experience for the community
Be a friendly and helpful presence at Council events, assisting visitors with everyday enquiries and providing useful information. Keeping an eye on event spaces and reporting hazards, damaged equipment or operational issues also helps create a safe, welcoming experience for everyone.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone practical, reliable and comfortable working in a busy event environment. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team, be confident engaging with volunteers and members of the community and be willing to pitch in wherever needed.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Experience supporting events, functions, community activities or a similar operational environment.
- Practical experience with event setup, equipment handling, hospitality, catering or customer service.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work positively with a range of people.
- The ability to safely undertake physical and practical tasks and follow established procedures and instructions.
- Valuable organisation skills and the flexibility to adapt when event requirements change.
- Availability to work across weekdays,
evenings and weekends according to the event schedule.
