Southwest Bariatrics is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team (two surgeons, nurse, dietitian and two receptionists) at our Campbelltown, NSW clinic. This is a permanent part-time position that plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will be instrumental in creating a welcoming environment and maintaining the administrative backbone of our bariatric surgery practice. This role is essential to our mission of providing comprehensive care to patients seeking bariatric procedures and ongoing support.
Key responsibilities
- Greeting and welcoming patients as they arrive at the clinic, ensuring a warm and professional first impression
- Managing patient check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying insurance information and updating patient records
- Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments using clinic management system (Genie)
- Answering telephone enquiries professionally and directing calls to appropriate staff members
- Handle patient phone and email enquiries
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with healthcare privacy legislation
- Processing patient payments and managing billing enquiries with courtesy and accuracy
- Assisting with data entry and administrative tasks to support clinic operations
- Communicating effectively with clinical staff regarding patient arrivals and appointment status
- Handling routine administrative enquiries and providing information about clinic services and procedures
- Ensure the reception and waiting areas are clean, organised, and welcoming.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working as a medical receptionist or in a similar healthcare administrative role
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail, particularly when managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in medical practice software (preferably Genie) is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with clear telephone manner
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy requirements in healthcare settings
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative team members
- Reliability and punctuality, with a flexible approach to part-time scheduling
- Desirable: Certification in medical administration or customer service training
- Availability to work flexible days as needed to provide cover for other medical receptionists
