About the Role

As our underground operation continues to grow towards 2.2 million tonnes per annum, so too does our commitment to developing a highly skilled, competent and safety-focused workforce.
To support this growth, we are expanding our Health, Safety, Environment and Training team with two newly created Underground Safety & Training Specialist positions.
Reporting to the OHSET Manager, you'll play a critical role in building workforce capability across our underground operation.
Working closely with operational leaders and crews, you'll be responsible for delivering practical, field-based training, maintaining competency frameworks and verifying that personnel have the skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively.
This is not a classroom-based training position.
We're looking for experienced underground mining professionals who are confident working at the job face, coaching operators in real time and embedding safe work practices where they have the greatest impact.
Through hands-on mentoring, competency assessments and continuous improvement of our training systems, you'll help strengthen our safety culture while supporting the long-term success of a growing underground operation.
Key responsibilities
Deliver, assess and verify competency-based training in accordance with Certificate IV standards and site requirements.
Develop, implement and maintain training packages, Verification of Competency (VOC) programs and competency frameworks for underground operations.
Provide practical, on-the-job coaching and mentoring to underground personnel to build capability and reinforce safe work practices.
Conduct underground workplace inspections, safety interactions and participate in incident investigations.
Ensure statutory,



regulatory and site training compliance is maintained and accurately recorded.
Maintain and continuously improve training systems, procedures, SOPs and learning materials.
Support emergency preparedness through training delivery, emergency exercises and debrief facilitation.
Work closely with operational leaders to identify training needs and support workforce development initiatives.
About you
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential).
Extensive hands-on experience within an underground metalliferous mining operation (gold mining highly regarded).
Demonstrated experience training, assessing and mentoring personnel in an operational underground environment.
Strong understanding of competency-based training, verification of competency (VOC) processes and workforce capability development.
A practical, field-based approach to safety leadership and hazard management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence operators, supervisors and contractors.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
High-quality written skills, including training documentation and reporting.
Highly regarded qualifications & experience
Certificate IV (or higher) in Work Health and Safety.
Advanced First Aid or Certificate IV in Health Care / Pre-Hospital Care (or equivalent).
Mines Rescue qualifications and underground emergency response experience.
