The motel is a modern 4-star accommodation property offering premium guest rooms and suites, operating alongside a busy hospitality venue featuring a restaurant, bars, bottleshop and function facilities.
The motel caters to leisure travellers, business guests, families and group bookings, delivering high-quality accommodation and customer service in the Lake Macquarie region.
The property offers approximately 25 guest rooms together with room service, guest laundry facilities and reception services.
Position Summary
The Motel Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of motel operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, productive business performance and compliance with hospitality standards.
The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness and the ability to oversee accommodation operations while working closely with hotel management.
Minimum requirement
At least an AQF Diploma (or higher) in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Management or a related discipline.At least three years of relevant management experience in motel, hotel or accommodation operations.
Roles And Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of the motel, ensuring high standards of guest service and operational efficiency.Oversee reservations, front office operations, guest arrivals and departures using the property's reservation management systems.Supervise, train and roster reception, housekeeping and maintenance staff.Monitor room occupancy, pricing strategies and revenue performance to maximise profitability.Ensure guest rooms, public areas and facilities are maintained to a consistently high standard.Respond promptly and professionally to guest enquiries, complaints and special requests.Coordinate housekeeping schedules to ensure timely room turnaround and quality assurance.Monitor budgets, operating expenses and inventory levels for accommodation operations.Prepare operational reports including occupancy, revenue, guest feedback and staffing requirements.Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, liquor licensing requirements (where applicable), fire safety procedures and accommodation industry standards.Coordinate maintenance and repairs with contractors to minimise disruption to guests.Work collaboratively with the hotel's staff to deliver a seamless guest experience.Assist with marketing initiatives, online booking platforms and reputation management, including responding to guest reviews.Implement procedures to improve operational efficiency, guest satisfaction and business performance.
Skills And Experience
Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience.Strong customer service and communication skills.Experience with accommodation booking systems and property management software.Sound financial,
budgeting and reporting skills.Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as required.Knowledge of Australian workplace health and safety requirements and hospitality industry compliance.
Desirable
Experience managing accommodation within an integrated hotel or hospitality venue.First Aid Certificate.Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency.Experience in revenue management and online travel agency (OTA) platforms.
