We are recruiting for passionate and dedicated Onsite Support Worker to join our Specialist Community Services (SCS) team at our Murray Street Accommodation - Wandjoo Bidi.
Wandjoo Bidi works as an important part of a broader sector and community working collectively to support people experiencing homelessness and other complex needs.
The work is grounded in principles of empowerment, working with Residents to pursue their goals, interests and rights, and having confidence in their capacity to make decisions about their own future acknowledging the importance of developing a transparent and trusting relationship as pivotal to the change process.

About this RoleReporting to the Coordinator, Wandjoo Bidi, this is an chance to work collectively to support people experiencing homelessness.
As an Onsite Support Worker, you form part of a team that provides daily support to Residents, helping them develop the skills and capacity to maintain their tenancies and manage other areas of their life.
The onsite support role works collaboratively with the Vinnies Housing Plus tenancy team and the Residents external Housing First case managers.
Maximum-term Part-time contract (up to 2 years)
45.5 hours per fortnight (rotating roster across 7 days that includes am/pm shifts and weekends)
Position located in Perth, W.A.
Provide strengths-based, person centred, trauma-informed service to people who have experienced homelessness, delivered using a low barrier model and aligned with Vinnies Values in Practice.
Work in collaboration with the whole team to provide a safe, non-judgmental and welcoming environment for those experiencing homelessness.
Ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and Wandjoo Bidi operational policies and procedures
Ensures knowledge of, and compliance with, all relevant policies,



procedures and legislative requirements as they relate to record keeping and data collection specifically relating to privacy and confidentiality principles, maintaining client information and data reporting requirements.
Contributes to organisational impact reporting and service evaluation through monthly feedback, surveys and case studies.
Participates in Trauma Informed training requirements including, but not limited to, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and Person Brain Model.
You will need to have:
Experience working with people with complex needs including mental health, disability, homelessness, substance use and/or financial disadvantage – particularly within a community or Residential sector setting.
Demonstrated ability to work in an environment supporting people who may present with challenging behaviours such as the inability to emotionally regulate.
Values consistent with low barrier model and trauma informed, therapeutic crisis intervention approaches, with the capacity to translate this into work practices on a day to day basis.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or extensive relevant experience complemented by quality in-service training.
Demonstrated ability to operate as an effective team member, with highly developed conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
Good written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare concise and relevant written reports, maintain files and data requirements, and the capacity to represent the service at both an agency and community level.
Knowledge of Housing First principles and low barrier/threshold models of practice (Desirable).
