Gladstone Regional Council is seeking an exceptional leader to join our Assets and Environment leadership team as Manager Engineering Asset Solutions.
This is more than an engineering management role.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager Assets and Environment, this strategic leadership role is responsible for leading Council's Engineering Asset Solutions function and providing engineering governance, technical leadership and organisational capability development across the organisation.
The Manager Engineering Asset Solutions leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for engineering investigations, concept development, design management, technical assurance and engineering advice.
The role ensures engineering solutions are practical, sustainable, affordable and aligned with Council's asset management framework, service objectives and long-term strategic direction.
Success in this role requires a leader who can build robust relationships across Operations, Asset Planning, Asset Governance and Capital Delivery,



ensuring engineering outcomes support both current service needs and future community expectations.
About You
You are an experienced leader who combines engineering credibility with a proven ability to lead people, influence decision-making and drive organisational performance.
You will bring:
Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or the ability to obtain and maintain registration.
Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary engineering, technical or infrastructure teams in a complex environment.
Proven experience building high-performing teams, developing capability, fostering accountability and creating a positive performance culture.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence outcomes, manage change and build productive relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
Experience establishing and maintaining engineering governance, technical assurance and risk-based decision-making frameworks.
Strong understanding of asset management principles, infrastructure lifecycle management and whole-of-life asset decision-making.
Experience managing engineering investigations, design programs, technical service providers and consultant contracts.
Commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, resource planning and prioritisation of competing demands.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into practical business and community outcomes.
A demonstrated commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and delivering value-for-money solutions.
Proficiency in contemporary business and asset management systems and a current Queensland driver's licence.
