About the RoleWe are seeking an exceptional, highly technical Site-Based Project Engineer (Structural) to join our site operations with an immediate start available.
This role requires a candidate with a strong structural engineering background who brings elite technical rigor, precise quality management, and superior project execution to site environments.
Acting as the technical authority on site, you will manage structural workpacks, drive strict compliance with Australian Structural Standards, oversee quality assurance, and produce explicit, high-level project reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Workpack & Quality Documentation: Author, review, and execute detailed site Workpacks, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Manufacturing Data Records (MDRs) for structural steel, heavy fabrication, and associated mechanical packages.
Technical Compliance & Engineering Review: Interpret complex structural design models, client technical specifications, and relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS ****, AS ****, AS/NZS ****).
Exceptional Site Reporting: Produce clear, accurate, and timely written technical reports, daily/weekly site progress updates, variation submissions, Technical Queries (TQs), and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
On-Site Inspection & Quality Assurance: Lead site hold-point inspections, structural alignment verification, weld quality reviews, and final handover walkdowns in brownfield and greenfield settings.
Procurement & Commercial Tracking: Coordinate material take-offs (MTOs), place purchase orders, manage subcontractors, and maintain precise cost and progress reporting.
Safety & Leadership: Active involvement in site pre-starts, JHAs, SWMS, and safety audits, embedding a proactive, zero-harm culture.
Mandatory Criteria & Required Qualifications
Qualifications: Tertiary Qualification (Bachelor's Degree) in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural Major), or Mechanical Engineering with extensive structural fabrication experience.
Mandatory Requirements:
Valid General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
Current, valid Australian Driver's License.
Ability to pass comprehensive Pre-Employment Site Medicals, including drug & alcohol screening.
Technical & Domain Expertise:
Proven track record in heavy structural steel fabrication, erection, platework, or structural maintenance environments.
Demonstrated mastery in producing high-caliber ITPs, Workpacks, and MDR compilations.
Outstanding written and verbal reporting skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), PDF markup software (Bluebeam Revu), and engineering management platforms.
Robust understanding of structural welding standards (WPS, PQR, NDT processes) and structural integrity requirements.
Personal Attributes: Solid site leadership, sharp attention to detail, resilience in high-pressure project environments, and strong commercial acumen.
