The Role: Field Service Technician (Mechanical/Electrical)We are seeking a skilled and proactive Field Service Technician with a mechanical or electrical background to join our team.
This role involves a high level of travel across Australia and occasional international assignments to support, install, commission, and service bespoke automation and robotic systems at client sites.
You'll be working on advanced systems such as mechanical sample preparation units and automated material handling equipment in mining and industrial sectors.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is comfortable working independently in remote and industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
Provide service and support for robotic and automation systems at client sites.
Perform mechanical and/or electrical installation, diagnostics, and maintenance.
Commission equipment and provide handover training to site personnel.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades.
Complete service documentation, risk assessments, and technical reports.
Communicate effectively with clients and internal engineering teams.
Uphold a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site procedures.
What You'll BringEssential:
Full Australian working rights.
Current C-class driver's license and own transport.
Field service experience in mining or industrial sectors.
Minimum of 5+ years of field service experience in mining or industrial sectors.
Trade qualification or equivalent experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
Experience in project work and shut-down work under time pressure.
Strong fault-finding and hands-on servicing skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to travel extensively and work autonomously in challenging environments.
Availability to travel *****% of the time for field service assignments.
Desirable:
Experience with automated equipment and systems, particularly in a laboratory setting.
Familiarity with PLC systems, industrial automation, or robotic controls.
Ability to write clear service reports and safety documentation.
Basic IT skills – ERP systems, SharePoint, MS Office.
