About the role
Western Geotechnical and Laboratory Services is seeking experienced Laboratory Technicians to join our team in a Perth laboratory and FIFO capacity, with a range of exciting opportunities currently available across various locations.
As our rapid growth continues with a robust pipeline of projects requiring our expertise, we are looking to bolster the team at our remote laboratory projects in the Pilbara region and greater WA.
Roster opportunities include 2/1, 2/2 and 3/3.
Interstate applicants are encouraged to apply for longer rosters.
For those looking to build a long-term career in the Pilbara, we offer local and relocation packages and the opportunity to be based locally in Karratha, Paraburdoo or Newman.
What you'll be doing
Perform a range of technical laboratory tests and analyses to support our geotechnical and construction material projects
Collect, prepare, and test soil and aggregate samples in accordance with relevant Australian/MRWA Standards
Accurately recording and analysing test data, preparing technical reports, and communicating findings to project stakeholders
Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
Assist with field work, including site inspections and sample collection
Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure the integrity of test results
Contributing to the continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and protocols
Collaborating with the wider project team to provide technical expertise and insights
Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
About You
NATA Level 2 certification highly regarded for experienced applicants
Signatory status demonstrated experience reporting to MRWA/Australian Standards highly regarded for experienced applicants
Proven competency in conducting a wide range of soil testing procedures, such as Atterberg limits, particle size distribution,



and compaction tests (preferred for experienced applications)
A demonstrated experience or interest in civil construction, science or technology
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
Good written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Current driver's license and ability to travel to field sites as required
A team-oriented approach and the flexibility to work in a dynamic, FIFO environment
Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
