This degree apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to complete a degree in Cybersecurity whilst earning an income.
Developed in partnership with Flinders University and industry, this 4-year program combines academic learning with practical workplace experience.
Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will gain exposure to cybersecurity practices, tools, and environments, helping you build the foundations for a career in cybersecurity.
Places in this program are being offered by a range of employers, including but not limited to Consunet and Northrop Grumman, with additional partners to be announced.
What is a degree apprenticeship?
As with traditional apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships are a combination of paid employment and off-job training.
The key difference is that the off-job training is linked to a university degree and is delivered by a higher education institution.

You'll receive a salary that increases each year of your apprenticeship, and your employer covers your university fees.
First-year salary ranges from $31,900 (under 18) or $38,156–$59,696 (ages *****) for a 40-hour week (Monday–Friday).
Hands-on experience working in a professional cybersecurity environment and exposure to a range of cyber security disciplines, including both defensive and offensive security.

About the Apprentice Cybersecurity Apprentice
As a Cybersecurity Apprentice, you will work within the Cybersecurity team while completing your university studies.
This is a developmental role where you will build your knowledge and practical skills through a combination of structured learning and supervised workplace experience.
You will gain exposure to different areas of cybersecurity while contributing to team activities and developing your capability over time.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day activities will support your academic learning and professional development, and may include:
Completing work tasks related to your studies with mentor support
Assisting with cybersecurity activities under supervision
Using and learning cybersecurity tools, processes, and procedures
Helping prepare reports, assessments, and documentation
Participating in team activities to build cybersecurity knowledge




Collaborating with your team and developing professional skills
You'll also have the flexibility to attend university classes and dedicate time to your studies.

The ideal Cybersecurity Apprentice will be adaptable, motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced technology environment.
We're looking for a natural problem solver who demonstrates integrity, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate is curious about technology, digital systems, and how information is protected, with a genuine interest in identifying risks and solving security challenges.
They enjoy analysing information, thinking critically, and working collaboratively with others to achieve positive outcomes.

What you'll study
Graduates will develop a strong foundation in computer networks and cybersecurity, preparing them to help protect organisations, systems, and data from evolving cyber threats.
You will study the principles, technologies, and practices that underpin modern computer networking and data communications, while exploring the cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and threats associated with these environments.
Through your studies, you will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify risks, strengthen security, and respond effectively to cybersecurity incidents.

To secure an offer, successful applicants must meet the academic eligibility requirements and employment requirements of the Degree Apprenticeship.
Citizenship Requirements
Degree apprenticeship programs are only available to domestic students (Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens), and defence-related work is exclusive to Australian citizens.
Employment Checks




Admission to a Degree Apprenticeship is subject to selection by an employer partner and passing industry-required employment checks.
Defence employer partners require successful candidates to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance, an Australian Department of Defence security clearance, and meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements.
Employment is dependent on securing and keeping these clearances.

Academic Requirements
Applicants can apply for this course using the following qualifications: Year 12 results (ATAR 65), the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), TAFE/VET qualifications, Flinders Foundation Studies or Higher Education transfer.

Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 Mathematical Studies or Specialist Mathematics is assumed.

*Due to industry-based nature of the programs, applicants with prior studies in IT/Cybersecurity may not be eligible for admission.

Applicants whose Suitability Statement best demonstrates alignment will be shortlisted for a phone screening interview by 14 October.
Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend an Assessment Centre on 26 November.
If you are offered a place by an employer after the assessment centre, you'll commence your study and job in February ****.
Applicants who are not successful will be considered for an alternative offer for a traditional degree.
