The Cruising Yacht Club WA is seeking a talented and passionate
Chef
to join our culinary team on a
full-time basis
in Rockingham, WA. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a dynamic hospitality environment, where you'll be responsible for creating exceptional dining experiences for our members and guests. As Chef, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of food preparation, presentation and safety that define our club's reputation.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to the highest standards, ensuring consistency in quality, taste and presentation
Plan and develop menus that reflect seasonal produce and member preferences whilst maintaining cost efficiency
Manage kitchen operations, including food storage, inventory control and stock rotation to minimise waste
Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with relevant regulations and club policies
Oversee food preparation techniques and ensure all dishes are prepared to specification and delivered promptly
Train, supervise and mentor kitchen staff to maintain professional standards and develop their culinary skills
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and member satisfaction
Manage food costs and work within budgetary constraints whilst maintaining quality standards
Source quality ingredients from suppliers and maintain strong vendor relationships
Create innovative dishes and special menus for events and functions hosted by the club
What we're looking for
Formal culinary qualifications or equivalent professional training in food preparation and cookery
Minimum 3-5 years' professional experience as a Chef or Cook in a hospitality setting
Advanced knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and relevant legislation including food handling certificates
Strong technical skills in food preparation, cooking methods and kitchen management




Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively under pressure
Leadership qualities and the ability to train, motivate and manage kitchen staff effectively
Creativity and passion for developing recent menus and innovative culinary presentations
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members across all departments
Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation
Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergies, with the ability to accommodate special requests
Experience in event catering or function cooking is highly desirable
