Sports College South Australia (SCSA)

POSITION CONTEXT
Vocational Education and Training (VET) is an important component of Sports College SA's commitment to providing diverse, meaningful and future-focused pathways for young people. Through VET, students develop practical skills, industry knowledge and nationally recognised qualifications that complement their broader education while preparing them for future employment, further training and tertiary opportunities.
The VET Trainer & Assessor plays a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality vocational learning experiences that align with the College's applied, industry-connected and sport-centred approach to education. The primary focus of the role is the delivery and assessment of the

Certificate III in Sport (Athlete)
to Year 11 (and 12) students, while supporting the continued growth of vocational learning opportunities across the College.
The
Certificate III in Sport (Athlete)
enables students to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required as emerging athletes through practical, authentic learning experiences. Students build capabilities in areas including athlete preparation, performance, recovery, wellbeing, leadership, communication and teamwork, while developing transferable skills that support future pathways.




The role responsibilities involve travelling across four Sports College SA venues to deliver the qualification to various sports specific cohorts (AFL, Football, Basketball, Cricket and Netball). One day per week is allocated to cooperative planning, assessment/moderation, resource development and professional learning with the other SCSA trainers. The position also supports the College's compliance with nationally recognised training requirements through quality assurance, accurate record keeping and continuous improvement of training and assessment practices.

. SCSA venues are spread across metropolitan Adelaide and location combinations will be negotiable with the successful applicant. Appointments may be offered on either an ongoing or fixed-term basis, subject to the successful applicant and organisational requirements.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL
TAE***** Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent successor qualification)
Certificate III in Sport (Athlete) (or ability to obtain through RPL prior to commencement).
Applicants holding relevant sport, fitness or exercise qualifications (e.g. Fitness, Sport and Recreation, Sport Coaching or similar) or with professional athlete experience are also encouraged to apply.
Demonstrated experience delivering engaging vocational education with diverse groups of secondary school students.
Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate and build positive relationships with young people through practical, applied and authentic learning experiences.
Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and maintaining high expectations whilst building student confidence and participation.
Strong understanding of contemporary vocational education practices and competency-based assessment.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish productive relationships with students, families, colleagues and external stakeholders.
Strong organisational,



planning and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, agile and student-centred team.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning and maintaining vocational competency, industry currency and trainer/assessor requirements.
Desirable
An additional qualification at AQF Level 3 or above, in a relevant field such as Sport and Recreation, Fitness, Business, Coaching, Community Services or a related discipline will be highly desirable.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATES & CLEARANCES
Current Driver's Licence.
Current First Aid qualification (including CPR and Anaphylaxis Training) (required or willing to obtain).
Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), RRHAN-EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect) and Protective Practices Training
Must be held prior to 22 January, ****.
