Work across two large-scale cattle properties in the NT and Queensland with a respected family-owned operation.
Hands-on role involving mustering, cattle work, fencing, waters and general station duties.
Single air-conditioned accommodation, all meals supplied and Starlink internet provided.
Located between Alice Springs and the Queensland border, with additional operations between Winton and Longreach, this family-owned cattle business runs a large-scale breeding and backgrounding operation across some of Australia's most renowned cattle country. Steers are moved between properties as part of the production system, providing staff with exposure to varied country, livestock operations and station work.
Reporting directly to station management, this role would suit an experienced Station Hand who enjoys practical cattle work, takes pride in maintaining equipment and infrastructure, and can work effectively both independently and within a team. During the busy season from Easter through to September, you'll be part of a larger crew of station staff, contractors and support personnel. An immediate start is available for the right person.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Muster, process and handle cattle using low-stress stock handling principles, including weaning and yard work.
Record livestock data including numbers, weights, treatments and stock movements.
Carry out fencing construction and repairs, yard maintenance and general station infrastructure work.
Conduct bore runs and assist with maintenance of poly, solar and water systems, along with basic welding and station maintenance tasks.
Selection Criteria:
Proven experience working with cattle on large-scale breeding or backgrounding properties.
Previous experience in low-stress stock handling and mustering using motorbikes and buggies.
Current manual driver's licence; truck licence highly regarded.
Sound mechanical aptitude, machinery awareness and basic maintenance skills.
Ability to work safely, use initiative and operate independently or within a team environment.
Physically fit, reliable, tidy in personal presentation and willing to undertake a National Police Check.
Additional Particulars:
Single air-conditioned accommodation provided, Starlink internet and all meals supplied by the station cook.
Day rate negotiable based on experience.
No dogs or horses permitted.
Full time Station Hand position. Applicants must supply their own swag, hat, drink bottle and a minimum of four days' work clothes. Own vehicle, hand tools and handheld radio are advantageous.
