The Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Branch creates value by protecting people, supporting operational performance and enabling organisational resilience through effective risk management, safety leadership, fitness for work programs and environmental stewardship.
The Role
This role provides expert leadership in human factors and systems safety across Public Transport Services to strengthen risk controls, reduce human error, and improve operational performance.
You will integrate human factor principles into safety investigations, operational design, procedures, and training to enhance reliability, resilience, and public safety outcomes.
This is a new and exciting role in Public Transport Services.
We are looking for a human factor specialist with experience analysing human factors impacting safety in complex environments.
You will have extensive involvement in the development and implementation of solutions impacting safety outcomes in Public Transport Services.
In this role you will:




establish and lead the human factors framework across Public Transport Services
provide specialist advice on human performance, error management and systems design
integrate human factors analysis into incident investigations and safety reviews
identify systemic contributors to risk
support development of procedures, controls and operational changes
contribute to safety case development and major operational change initiatives
analyse trends in incidents and operational data to identify human performance themes.
To be successful you will have:
high level of skill supporting the implementation of Human Factors processes within complex operational environments
strong knowledge of human factors methodologies and their application to safety management systems
demonstrated expertise in human factors and human centred design methods
substantial research, analytical and evaluation skills
substantial consulting, negotiation and interpersonal skills
excellent written and verbal communication skills.
