Salary:
Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348 - $146,945 pa), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
The Senior Procurement Specialist plays a key role within the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) by providing expert procurement advice, guidance, and support across the organisation.
The position helps ensure procurement activities are conducted in accordance with the NSW Procurement Framework, government policies, and legislative requirements while delivering value for money, managing risk, and supporting business objectives.
What you'll do
As a Senior Procurement Specialist in the Policy and Systems team of the Strategic Procurement division, you will play a key role in providing expert procurement advice and driving the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement policies, processes, and governance frameworks.
In this role, you will ensure procurement documentation, templates, and practices align with the NSW Procurement Framework, DCJ policies, and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
You will contribute to strengthening procurement capability across the organisation by promoting best practice, compliance, and value-for-money outcomes.
Working closely with a broad range of internal stakeholders, you will support strategic sourcing activities, procurement governance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your expertise will help deliver efficient, compliant, and customer-focused procurement solutions that meet organisational objectives and support effective service delivery.
As part of the Corporate Services Procurement function, you will join a collaborative and high-performing team that values partnership, stakeholder engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement.
You will work alongside procurement professionals, business leaders,



and other government agencies in a dynamic environment committed to ethical practice, strong governance, knowledge sharing, and delivering procurement outcomes that create value and support DCJ's broader community and service objectives.
What we're looking for
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated procurement qualified who can quickly establish themselves within the team, work autonomously, and build strong, productive relationships with stakeholders from day one.
The successful candidate will bring a proactive, solutions mindset, demonstrate resilience when managing competing priorities, and have a genuine commitment to delivering high quality customer-focused outcomes.
They will thrive in a dynamic environment, showing initiative, sound judgement, and a collaborative approach to achieving results.
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong understanding of the NSW Procurement Framework, procurement governance requirements, and procurement best practice.
You will also possess experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, policy development, or a related field, supported by strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
You will have the ability to provide practical and trusted procurement advice, identify and manage risk, influence and negotiate with a range of stakeholders, and deliver compliant, value-for-money procurement solutions that support organisational priorities.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement will be key to your success in this role.
