Finance Manager - Accounting
Location: Chullora, Sydney, NSW
About the role
This is a integral part of the Australian Finance Operations Team and is a hands-on Finance Manager leading the day-to-day finance function.
Including month-end, team management and driving continuous improvement across processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Deliver an accurate month-end close within agreed timeframes
Prepare and review monthly management reporting, including P&L; and balance sheet
Continuously tighten the close calendar — identifying bottlenecks, inconsistencies and shortening the cycle where possible
Review and co-ordinate balance sheet recs
Support the quarterly reporting to the US
Support the annual budget and rolling forecast process
Team Management Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants, setting clear priorities and accountability
Run regular one-on-ones and performance reviews; build development plans that grow capability within the team
Manage workload allocation across the team, particularly through peak periods (month-end, year-end, audit)
Foster a culture of engagement, ownership, accuracy and continuous improvement
Process Improvement Identify and deliver improvements across finance processes — automation, standardisation, and elimination of manual workarounds
Lead or support finance systems initiatives (ERP optimisation, reporting tools, workflow automation)
Document and maintain process controls; strengthen the internal control setting
Partner with operations and other finance teams to streamline cross-functional processes
Compliance & Other Support statutory obligations including production of the financial statements and tax returns including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and income tax
Act as a key contact for external auditors; manage audit deliverables and timelines
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (AASB/IFRS) and internal policies
Ad hoc analysis and projects
About You
An enthusiastic and dynamic manager, able to motivate and foster an engaged finance team
Strong communicator who can effectively articulate and manage cross functional issues
CA/CPA qualified with 5+ years' post-qualification experience
Proven experience managing a month-end close and leading a small finance team
Strong technical accounting knowledge (SOX/AASB/IFRS), ideally with an audit background
Experience of Treasury and tax
Experience of delivering US Sarbanes Oxley compliance
Demonstrated track record of process improvement
Advanced Excel; ERP experience essential (e.g. NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle); Experience of TM1 reporting tool would be valued as would Power BI or similar
