Principal Project Engineer (Civil/Structural)
to provide technical leadership across the
Black Star Open Cut (BSOC) Project
, a major brownfield expansion within their Mount Isa operations. This role will initially be based in Brisbane before transitioning to a FIFO/DIDO arrangement to Mount Isa during project execution.

As Principal Project Engineer, you will provide engineering leadership across one of Glencore's largest capital projects, ensuring engineering design,



technical governance and project delivery are executed safely, efficiently and in line with project objectives. This is a unique opportunity to influence the successful delivery of a major brownfield mining project from design through to commissioning and operational handover.

About the Role
The
Principal Project Engineer – Black Star Open Cut (BSOC)
will play a key technical leadership role supporting the Engineering Manager across all engineering activities for the project.
Working closely with engineering consultants, construction and commissioning teams, you will ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with project scope, schedule, budget and safety requirements while providing governance across multiple engineering disciplines.
Initially supporting project development in Brisbane, the role will transition to Mount Isa during project execution, providing ongoing technical leadership through construction, commissioning and project handover.
Key Responsibilities




Provide technical leadership across multi-disciplinary engineering activities
Manage engineering consultants and design deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
Drive engineering governance, design assurance and technical compliance
Lead constructability, design review and value engineering workshops
Support risk management activities including HAZOP, HAZID and engineering risk assessments
Coordinate engineering interfaces across design, construction and commissioning
Monitor engineering progress, project controls and change management activities
Support contractor management, tender evaluations and technical bid assessments
Mentor and develop project engineers and graduate engineers
About You
You are an experienced project engineering leader with a strong background delivering major mining or mineral processing projects within complex brownfield environments. You have a passion for technical excellence and enjoy leading engineering teams through all phases of project delivery.
You will bring:
Extensive experience delivering major mining, processing or industrial capital projects
Proven leadership managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and design consultants
Solid background within brownfield process plant or mining environments
Experience working within EPCM or EPC project delivery models
Strong understanding of engineering governance, risk management and technical assurance
Commercial awareness with experience supporting project controls, cost and change management
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Tertiary qualification in
Civil and/or Structural preferred
CPEng or RPEQ highly regarded
