About the Role
As a Youth & Therapeutic House Lead, you will play a crucial role in providing 24/7 therapeutic care for young people within our residential facility in Launceston. Collaborating with the Placement Lead and Therapeutic Specialist, you will ensure the implementation of therapeutic plans that support each young person's growth, independence, and healing journey.
Your role will involve fostering a safe, nurturing, and structured environment while assisting young people in developing the skills needed for independent living. You will also lead a team of Youth Workers and engage directly with young people to build positive relationships and provide guidance and support when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Placement Lead and Therapeutic Specialist to implement and review therapeutic plans tailored to each young person's needs.
Provide ongoing support to help young people achieve their therapeutic and personal growth goals.
Lead and support the Youth Workers in managing the day-to-day operations of the house.
Foster a healing and supportive environment, promoting emotional, psychological, and social well-being.




Participate in and lead team meetings and training to ensure consistent care practices.
Encourage young people to develop essential independent living skills through structured learning opportunities.
Act as a role model for healthy communication, positive behaviour, and life skills.
Be available to respond to the emotional and practical needs of young people, offering support during difficult times.
Maintain accurate records and reports on the progress and challenges of each young person.
Support rostering and be available for on-call shifts as needed.
Ensure the house operates in line with relevant legislation, policies, and therapeutic care models.
About You
We're looking for someone who is committed to providing compassionate and effective care to young people in need, and who has experience working in therapeutic or residential care settings. You should be a skilled communicator, a natural leader, and someone who can work collaboratively within a team. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and able to manage complex situations with professionalism and understanding.

Selection Criteria
Please provide examples of your experience and knowledge addressing the following areas:
1. Commitment to the vision, mission, and values of CatholicCare Tasmania, and an understanding of the Catholic Church's operations in Tasmania.
2. Experience in responding to emotional and behavioural challenges in therapeutic residential care. How do you ensure both the young person and staff feel supported and respected?
3. Knowledge and experience of care management models, particularly for young people in therapeutic settings.
4. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with young people, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills, including the ability to manage the daily running of a therapeutic house.
6. Sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, including mandatory reporting, workplace health and safety, duty of care, privacy and confidentiality, and child protection laws.
