Komatsu has an chance for an Operations Specialist to join our Mechanical Cutting team, based in Unanderra, NSW.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the future of mining.
The Komatsu MC51 system is designed to revolutionise underground excavation through its DynaCut mechanical cutting technology.
Unlike conventional drilling and blasting, the MC51 enables continuous mining, producing consistent rock size and delivering precise tunnel profiles.
The fully electric machine also reduces emissions and allows for remote operation, improving both environmental performance and operator safety.
With no diesel and less requirement for underground ventilation, the MC51 system helps to create a more sustainable mining operation.
In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining global operational capability for the Mechanical Cutting product line by ensuring engineering designs are effectively translated into standardised manufacturing, assembly, repair and upgrade processes.
You will manage product configuration and manufacturing data, coordinate the implementation of engineering changes, support global manufacturing, supply chain and field operations, and drive continuous improvement to ensure products are built, serviced and upgraded safely, efficiently and consistently throughout their lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
You'll help translate engineering designs into practical, repeatable manufacturing, assembly, repair and upgrade processes that can be used consistently across our global operations.
You'll develop, review and improve assembly procedures, work instructions and manufacturing practices so our machines and components are built safely, efficiently and to the right quality standard.
You'll provide practical technical guidance and troubleshooting support to production teams,

including hands-on support for complex builds, repairs, commissioning and process validation when required.
You'll keep product configuration and manufacturing data accurate, including BOM structures, ERP routings, production sequencing, resource requirements and standard labour times.
You'll coordinate the roll-out of engineering changes, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and field teams to make sure changes are understood, planned and embedded effectively.
You'll support repairs, upgrades and field modifications across the global installed fleet, helping develop practical repair procedures, upgrade kits and supporting technical documentation.
You'll work with procurement, suppliers and production teams to support component changes, inventory optimisation, production planning and new product releases.
You'll look for opportunities to improve safety, quality, cost, efficiency and consistency through Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, risk assessments, DFMEA/PFMEA and process validation activities.
A little about you:
A practical, hands-on problem solver who is comfortable moving between the workshop floor, engineering discussions and operational planning.
Highly organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities, follow through on actions and meet critical deadlines.
Confident working with technical information, including drawings, specifications, BOMs, routings and manufacturing documentation.

Collaborative and clear in communication, with the ability to build solid working relationships across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service and global teams.
Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to respond to changing business needs and support outcomes in a fast-paced operational environment.
Continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to question current ways of working and identify practical improvements to safety, quality, cost and efficiency.
Relevant engineering, manufacturing or technical experience within heavy equipment, mining, industrial machinery or a related environment
