Role
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range.
The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.
Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.
Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school.
A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.
Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.
The International Programs & Languages Coordinator provides leadership of language learning, international student programs and strategic partnerships that enhance educational opportunities, intercultural understanding and student outcomes.
The role leads the college's language programs, International Student Program and Bendigo Chinese Language Program, ensuring high-quality educational experiences, strong student outcomes and compliance with Department requirements.
Through strategic partnerships, the role strengthens language learning opportunities across the college and the broader Bendigo region.
As a member of the Curriculum Leadership Team, the role contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning priorities across the college.
The role works collaboratively with college leaders, partnership schools, external agencies and community organisations to strengthen language learning, intercultural engagement and international student experiences.
Success is reflected through strong portfolio leadership, effective partnerships, sustainable program growth and positive outcomes for students, staff and partner organisations.

Responsibilities
Languages leadership
Lead language learning programs that promote student achievement, participation and pathway opportunities.
Provide leadership of language learning initiatives across partner schools, community programs and the college.
Lead the Bendigo Chinese Language Program to strengthen curriculum quality, workforce capability, student participation and sustainable language learning pathways across the region.
Lead and support collaborative curriculum development, professional learning and consistent teaching practices across partner schools.
Promote intercultural understanding and language learning opportunities that enhance student outcomes and global perspectives.
International student programs
Lead the college's International Student Program and exchange student programs, ensuring high-quality educational experiences, student wellbeing, successful completion and compliance with Department and accreditation requirements.
Oversee enrolment, orientation, transition and support processes that enable international and exchange students to participate, achieve and thrive.
Student support and pathways
Support the engagement, wellbeing,



achievement and pathway development of international and exchange students.
Work collaboratively with families, homestay providers, staff and external agencies to ensure students are supported to participate fully in college life and successfully transition through their educational journey.
Partnership and community engagement
Lead strategic partnerships that strengthen language learning, international student experiences and educational opportunities.
Maintain productive relationships with schools, agencies, community organisations and education partners.
Facilitate collaborative initiatives that enhance student learning, cultural understanding and program sustainability.
Represent the college in local, state, national and international forums and contribute to the growth and sustainability of partnership programs.
Program quality, compliance and governance
Ensure effective governance, compliance, accreditation and reporting across language, international student and partnership programs.
Monitor program performance, analyse data and implement improvement strategies that strengthen student outcomes, program quality and sustainability.
Ensure programs operate in accordance with Department requirements, quality standards and college expectations.
Staff leadership and support
Provide leadership and strategic direction for the portfolio.
Build leadership capability, establish clear expectations and support effective performance and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
Foster collaboration, professional trust and continuous improvement through coaching, feedback, professional learning and shared leadership.
Resource and portfolio management
Lead the effective planning, allocation and monitoring of staffing, workforce capability, funding and resources across the portfolio.
Ensure resources are aligned to student needs, college priorities and evidence‐informed practice.
