About Us
The MTA WA is the peak body representing the Western Australian motor industry.
With a proud history and a strong future focus, we support automotive businesses through advocacy, membership services, training, apprentice employment, and industry leadership.
We're seeking a part-time role of approximately 25 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust hours to suit personal and operational needs.
The Prospect
You'll be the numbers behind the decisions — turning month-end data into reporting, analysis and insight that helps the Financial Controller, executive team and Board see what's really going on.
You'll work in step with the Financial Accountant — you own management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and performance insight, they own financial accounting, reconciliations and compliance — with cross-coverage between you when it counts.
What You'll Do
Management Reporting & Month-End Prepare monthly management reports, dashboards and variance commentary.
Analyse trends, cost drivers and KPIs, and support month-end close with reporting workpapers and reviews.
Budgeting & Forecasting Support the annual budget, rolling forecasts and financial planning.
Collate and review inputs from business units, maintain financial models, and track actuals against budget.
Help business unit managers make sense of their numbers.
Reporting Systems & Data Quality Support finance system work on reporting structures, dashboards and budget uploads.
Look for ways to improve reporting quality and automate manual work, and make sure management reports reconcile back to the source data.
Commercial & Performance Insights Analyse performance across programs, divisions and cost centres — including property costs — and prepare ad hoc analysis for the Financial Controller, Group CFOO and business leaders.
Compliance & Cross-Coverage Support audit requirements with reporting and analytical schedules.
Independently review government funding and incentive claims prepared by the Financial Accountant, and process approved payments in line with delegated authority.
Step in for the Financial Accountant during peak periods.
What You'll Bring
Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce, finance or a related discipline
Experience in management accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modelling
Strong Excel skills and capability with reporting tools, dashboards and financial modelling
Solid understanding of month-end processes, general ledger structures and reconciliations
Ability to interpret financial and non-financial data and turn it into practical insight
Experience with accounting systems, ERP reporting structures and process improvement
Comfortable working closely with the Financial Accountant and wider Finance team while owning your own patch
Desirable
CPA, IPA or CA membership, or working towards it.
