1 Context

Pacific has a seamless curriculum across Kindergarten to Year 12 with teams of teachers working across the four subgroups of the College.
Staff are expected to learn collaboratively to contribute to a whole school approach as they lead learning in the Foundation College (Kindergarten-Year 2), Junior College (Years 3-5), Middle College (Years 6-9) and Senior College (Years *****).
2 Role Description
The Library Technician contributes as part of a team to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the library as an inviting learning hub of the College.
The Library Technician reports directly to the Teacher Librarian and is expected to:
Strengthening Lutheran Identity
Support the Lutheran ethos of the College.
This would include involvement in staff devotions and retreats.
Enhancing Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Provide administrative services to the Library in making it an efficient and stimulating place of learning.
Engage in Ongoing Improvement and Innovation
Engage in ongoing professional learning to update knowledge and practice, targeted to professional needs and College priorities.
Contribute to professional discussion with colleagues in a range of forums to evaluate practice directed at improving professional knowledge and practice and the educational outcomes for students.
Engage in reflection, collaborative planning, monitoring and review.
Engage in Ongoing Improvement and Innovation
The Library Technician has an important role in the building of community through the following:
Foster effective learning partnerships with students, staff, parents and members of the wider community.
Demonstrate responsiveness in all communications with parents/carers and staff, providing a welcoming environment for students, staff, parents and community members.
Adhere to the College Code of Conduct and act professionally at all times in dealing with students, staff, parents and members of the community.
Maintain a positive work environment through support of the library staff, students and parents flexibly adjusting to changing demands of the work workplace.
This would include the sharing of tasks.
Support communication processes within the library.
Leading Effective Organisation and Management




The Library Technician assists the Teacher Librarian in the provision of excellent library services through the following specific duties:
Issue and return items.
Register new library members and remove expired members.
Respond to client enquiries.
Provide excellent reference and information services to the Pacific community.
Assist students and staff with technology.
Assist Teacher Librarian with class visits.
Troubleshoot library computers and hardware as appropriate.
Quality assurance of supplied catalogue records.
Amend and create records ensuring that they are accurate and meet industry and Pacific standards.
Copy cataloguing from SCIS or other databases.
Do original cataloguing for items not on SCIS.
Assist librarians with collection maintenance.
Regular shelf checking to ensure the collection is in order.
Withdraw stock in accordance with library procedures.
Work as part of the team to provide relevant, well-maintained collections.
Assist with stock take.
Assist with library functions such as Book Week.
Adherence to the College's Policies including those of Workplace Health and Safety.
3 Workplace Health and Safety
Effective implementation of the School's Workplace Health and Safety Manual requires the active involvement of all employees.
All employees have an obligation to comply with statutory and organisational requirements, procedures and rules that are intended to protect the health and safety of persons at the workplace including the general public.
All Academic and Ancillary staff must:
3.1 Perform work safely in accordance with the training (induction and annual) they have received and report substandard work conditions or practices.
3.2 Follow lawful written and verbal workplace health and safety instructions, including policies and procedures issued by managers and supervisors and observe all warning signs and notices.
3.3 Report all personal injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor and appropriate School delegate.
3.4 Co-operate with and participate in all activities to make the work environment safe and healthy.
3.5 Maintain good housekeeping standards at all times.
3.6 Ask for specific instruction regarding the hazards associated with performing tasks which may not be completely familiar.
3.7 Wear clothing and footwear appropriate to their job and use all personal protective equipment specified and/or routinely expected for that job.
3.8 Operate specified plant and equipment, eg.
motor vehicles, etc, only if properly trained (including completion of induction procedures as required) and authorised to do so.
3.9 Not wilfully or recklessly interfere with anything that might harm the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others.
3.10 Not attend work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
Employees taking any medication must follow the directions of use and report to their supervisor if this substance may interfere with their performance at work.
3.11 Assist with Risk Assessments and Accident Investigation Reports when requested to do so.

5 Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate or have the demonstrated capacity to develop the capabilities described below:
SC 1.
Demonstrated ability to support the Christian ethos of the College.
SC 2
.
Demonstrated professional skills in working within a library including using information management systems, cataloguing and processing physical and digital resources.
SC 3.
Demonstrated high levels of interpersonal capabilities in areas such as teamwork, organisation, time management and communication.
Applicants should demonstrate confidence, confidentiality, and be able to work professionally in a high quality, service based multi-task environment.
A commitment to ongoing learning will be required.
6 Conditions Knowledge, Qualifications and Application Process
The successful applicant must have:
· Associate Diploma of Library and Information Services or equivalent.
· Experience in using SCIS, computer and Microsoft Office software.
· Experience with library management systems, particularly Oliver, would be an advantage.
Salary and related conditions are as per the Teachers' (Non-Government Schools) Award in conjunction with the most recent Lutheran Schools' Enterprise Agreement.
Employees must have or be eligible to acquire a Blue Card and maintain their Suitability to Work With Children requirements.
