Primary objective
Provide strategic advice, coordination and high-level support to the Chief Executive to ensure alignment between the
Department, Government objectives and Ministers priorities.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic advice and high-level support to the Chief Executive to ensure alignment between the
Department, Government objectives and Ministers priorities.
2. Lead the coordination and review of Ministerial correspondence, briefings, memorandums and Cabinet
Submissions on behalf of the Chief Executive.
3. Provide executive support to the Chief Executive to coordinate and deliver strategic priority projects.
4. Coordinate cross -Department responses for whole of Government policy and advice requests.
5. Develop and maintain effective cooperative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels
in government and non-government sectors and support the Office of the CEO at a range of Northern Territory
Government coordination groups and working parties.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level experience in policy coordination and analysis supported by well-developed written and
oral communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate a range of governance, administrative and
technical issues.
2.



Well-developed contemporary leadership and organisational skills with a proven ability to engage and secure
meaningful contributions through teamwork and collaboration across all levels of the organisation.
3. High level strategic, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and find
effective solutions to ensure organisational objectives are met.
4. High level of knowledge and understanding of government administrative; ministerial; Cabinet and legislative
processes and proven ability to prepare concise executive reports and correspondence.
5. High level knowledge of contemporary policy, political and legislative issues, trends and developments relevant to
the Department.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to the position.

or alternatively the successful applicant can select to be appointed on an ongoing basis.
