MacKillop Catholic College is seeking a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Inclusion Support team on a part-time basis, working two days per week.
This is an exciting opportunity for an OT who is passionate about working with young people and wants to make a meaningful difference within a school workplace.
Working as part of our dedicated Inclusion Support team, you will provide practical, student-centred occupational therapy support to help students overcome barriers to learning, participation and wellbeing.
About the Role
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with our Inclusion Support team, teachers, students and families to identify and support the individual needs of students.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conducting assessments and observations to identify students' occupational and functional needs.
Developing practical strategies and recommendations to support student participation in learning.
Supporting students with sensory regulation, fine motor skills, executive functioning, organisation and self-regulation.
Providing advice and strategies to teachers to support students within the classroom environment.
Developing practical adjustments and interventions that can be embedded into everyday classroom practice.
Working collaboratively with Inclusion Support Assistants to implement individualised strategies.
Supporting students to develop greater independence and confidence.
Contributing to student learning and support plans where appropriate.
Consulting with families and relevant professionals to support a coordinated approach to student development.
Providing professional advice and guidance to staff regarding occupational therapy and student support needs.
Maintaining appropriate professional documentation and records.
Contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive school environment.
About You
We are seeking an Occupational Therapist who is:
AHPRA registered and appropriately qualified as an Occupational Therapist.
Passionate about working with adolescents and young people.
Experienced or interested in working within an educational setting.
Able to build positive and trusting relationships with students.
Practical, collaborative and solutions-focused.
Confident providing advice and professional guidance to teachers and support staff.
Experienced in supporting students with diverse learning, sensory, developmental and behavioural needs.
Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
Committed to inclusive education and ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate and succeed.
Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, sensory processing needs, developmental disabilities, executive functioning difficulties or complex learning needs will be highly regarded.
