About the role
Canberra Contractors Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced
Tier 1 Civil Construction Foreman
to join our energetic construction team in Canberra, ACT.
This is a full-time position that plays a critical leadership role on site, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant execution of civil construction projects.
As Tier 1 Civil Construction Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing site personnel, and maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and safety.
This role is essential to our company's success and directly impacts project delivery, client satisfaction, and team performance.
Key responsibilities
Planning and coordinating daily construction activities to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
Supervising and managing site personnel, including directing work activities, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with instructions
Monitoring site safety standards and implementing safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment for all personnel
Inspecting work quality and ensuring all construction work meets design specifications and industry standards
Managing site resources, equipment and materials to optimise efficiency and minimise waste
Liaising with project managers, clients and other stakeholders to provide progress updates and address any site-related concerns
Maintaining accurate site records, documentation and daily reports
Identifying and resolving on-site issues and challenges in a timely and professional manner
Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and company policies




Conducting toolbox talks and training to promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness
What we're looking for
A valid Tier 1 Civil Construction Supervisor/Foreman qualification or equivalent recognised credential
Extensive experience in civil construction projects, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or foreman capacity
Demonstrated expertise in managing construction teams and coordinating multiple work activities on complex projects
Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, including WHS legislation, relevant Australian Standards and industry best practices
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail
A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to various project sites as required
A commitment to fostering a positive, collaborative and safety-focused workplace culture
Preferred experience with projects involving road works, drainage systems, earthworks or similar civil infrastructure
