About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced
All Round Operators
to join our Western Power delivery team.
Reporting to the Civil Crew Leader
, you will be responsible for operating a variety of civil plant while supporting the delivery of underground electrical infrastructure projects across the Perth metropolitan area.
You will work on projects involving cable trenching, conduit installation, pit installation, transformer and switchgear foundations, cable laying, reinstatement and associated civil construction works in accordance with Western Power standards and specifications.
This is a hands-on role requiring operators who are equally comfortable on and off the machine.
You will be expected to operate plant safely and efficiently while assisting with manual construction activities, cable installations, spotting, service locating and general site duties as required.
Working alongside experienced civil crews, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality underground power infrastructure safely, efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
Operate excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers and other civil plant.
Carry out trenching, excavation and backfilling for underground electrical infrastructure.
Assist with conduit installation,



cable laying and pit installations.
Construct transformer and switchgear foundations.
Load, unload and transport materials and equipment.
Carry out reinstatement works including compaction and surface restoration.
Assist with locating underground services and working around live assets.
Complete daily pre-starts and routine plant inspections.
Maintain plant and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
Follow Western Power specifications and company procedures.
Support the crew with general labouring duties where required.
What We're Looking For
5+
years' experience
operating civil construction plant (Excavator up to 20T / Posi / HR as minimum).
Experience working on underground utility or Western Power projects.
Competent operating excavators in and around live underground services.
Strong understanding of safe excavation practices.
Ability to work effectively within a high-performing crew.
Strong commitment to safety, quality and productivity.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever required.
Skills and Tasks
Excavator operation around underground services.
Trenching and backfilling.
Fine trimming and final trim work.
Loading trucks and material handling.
Installation of conduits, pits and underground electrical infrastructure.
Compaction and reinstatement works.




Daily maintenance and servicing of plant.
Reading service plans and working around existing utilities.
Solid understanding of Western Power work practices and standards.
Must-Haves
Current Driver's Licence (
HR preferred
).
Construction White Card.
Excavator Ticket.
Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
Highly Regarded
Loader Ticket.
Skid Steer Ticket.
Roller Ticket.
Dogging or Rigging.
Western Power Cable Laying Ticket.
Basic Network Authority.
Traffic Management (BWTM / TC).
Experience delivering Western Power underground power projects.
