Doral Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (DMS), has well established heavy mineral sands mining and processing facilities
near Bunbury, Busselton and Mandurah
in the Southwest of WA.
As part of the company's growth strategy, we have broadened our mineral sands operations recently acquiring Coburn Resources within the Gascoyne region.

The
Health Safety & Training Coordinator's
main purpose is to champion/lead workplace health safety and training across the mine site by developing and implementing proactive WHS systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, and fostering a culture of safety.
This role also oversees training programs that equip personnel with the skills and knowledge needed to work safely and effectively supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
In addition, the coordinator leads Health & Safety Advisor and Medical Emergency Service Officers in maintaining an effective emergency response capability, ensuring readiness for critical incidents on remote sites where access and response times pose unique challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and promote the DMS Safety and Health Program through worker consultation, engagement, and visible leadership across all sites.
Provide hands-on support and facilitation for workplace safety, health, and emergency management activities.
Coordinate emergency preparedness and response, including First Aid capability development and support for MESOs.
Ensure consistent and effective WHS systems, standards, policies, and procedures across the organisation.
Facilitate worker consultation and continuous improvement initiatives involving WHS Representatives and site teams.
Lead hazard identification, incident reporting, investigations, risk management, communication, and prevention activities.
Foster and maintain a positive safety culture through effective communication and exemplary safety behaviours.
Maintain a regular site presence to monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and company safety requirements.
Manage statutory reporting, regulatory documentation, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance obligations.
Oversee safety performance reporting and maintain safety management systems, including SRS and MyOSH databases.
Coordinate and deliver competency-based training, assessments, and workforce development programs.
Develop and maintain training matrices to ensure workforce competence and legislative compliance.
Provide technical training and competency assessments for employees and contractors.
Make decisions using a whole-of-business perspective to support organisational objectives.
Promote teamwork, collaboration, and consultation in addressing safety and operational issues.
Support personnel across departments and contribute to achieving company goals efficiently and effectively.
Review, coach, and develop team members to drive continuous improvement and professional development.
Key factors to your success include;
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent)
ICAM (Incident Cause Analysis Method) investigation training
First Aid Training – Provide CPR at a minimum
Strong understanding of an employee's requirements under the "Work Health and Safety Act *****)" and the "Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations *****)".
Holds or is willing to obtain a Statutory Supervisor certification.
Ability to develop and deliver engaging training sessions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse crews
Conflict resolution and leadership in promoting safety culture
Time management and multitasking in high-pressure environments
