About the opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Mining Manager to join our team at Beta Hunt, one of Australia's most exciting underground gold operations. As Westgold continues to grow and deliver on its operational improvement and production targets, this role will play a critical part in leading the mine through its next phase of performance, productivity and operational excellence.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Mining Manager will provide strategic leadership across all underground mining activities, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of production plans. Working closely with Technical Services, Geology, Processing and Maintenance teams, this position will drive operational performance, support future growth initiatives, and contribute to achieving the site's short and long-term objectives.

This is an prospect to lead one of Westgold's flagship underground operations during a period of significant growth, with the autonomy to influence strategy, develop people and deliver meaningful operational outcomes

The role includes

- Demonstrate visible health and safety leadership, actively promoting safety whilst identifying and managing risks – develop strategies to mitigate potential issues.
- Encourage a good incident reporting culture, enforcing the importance and ensuring reporting requirements are met.
- Review and implement policies, procedures, and systems to enhance operational efficiency and productivity
- Ensure the delivery of the budget for both physicals and cost are met by the mining teams
- Continuously evaluate and improve operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maximise productivity




- Maintain a sound knowledge of all operational activities and costs whilst actively looking for cost reductions or improvement opportunities
- Mentor, train and develop senior members of the Technical Services team
- Review and prepare operating plans, budgets, and capital expenditure proposals
- Provide regular reports and updates for senior managements and executives on the status of mining operations
- Develop and manage cost models and KPI’s for mining teams

What do I need?

- WA First Class Mine Managers Ticket
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- 10+ years in a mining leadership role
- Demonstrated success in leading large operational teams
- Competent in Mining Software (Deswik / Surpac)
- Proficient user of Microsoft Suite
- Ability to plan and schedule safety parallel to mining physicals.
- Proven budgeting and cost control experience
- Strong communication, organisational and time management skills
