About us

The Barwon Southwest Prison Precinct incorporates four custodial facilities located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne. The four custodial facilities consist of two maximum security prisons being HM Prison Barwon and Western Plains Correctional Centre and medium security prison Marngoneet Correctional Centre and Karreenga Annexe.

The BSW Prison Services Team provides both operational and administrative services to HMP Barwon, Marngoneet Correctional Centre and the Karreenga Annexe.

What you will do

As Administration Officer – Finance, you will provide finance and administrative support. You will work in a secure prison setting and have direct contact with prisoners.

You will:

- process prisoner money and maintain spend accounts
- process applications, invoices and data with accuracy and care
- maintain up-to-date registers, records and financial information
- order and process inventory, check stock and support purchasing
- prepare correspondence and provide clear administrative support to prison staff and external contacts.

About you

No formal qualification is required for this role. Experience in administration or finance would be an advantage.

You should also have:

- strong computer skills and confidence using standard office software and equipment
- good knowledge of relevant rules,



policies and procedures, or the ability to learn them
- flexibility and teamwork, with a willingness to learn new skills and help others
- clear and respectful communication, with good judgement when solving problems and working with people.
