Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Central Nursing Office – Critical Care casual pool. Based at our newly opened Springfield campus, this is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centred care across our Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) environments. As a casual Registered Nurse, you will have the flexibility to support critical care services across either or both departments, depending on your experience, skills, and availability.
Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opened in early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour, plus casual loading, plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As part of our Central Nursing Office team, you will provide safe, evidence-based nursing care while supporting the delivery of exceptional outcomes for patients across our Critical Care services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide high-quality, patient-focused nursing care within the Emergency Department and/or Intensive Care Unit
- Complete comprehensive patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions
- Develop, evaluate, and adapt care plans to meet individual patient needs
- Advocate for patients and families, ensuring care is delivered with compassion, dignity, and respect
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimise patient care outcomes
- Support a safe clinical environment through adherence to infection prevention, quality, and safety standards
- Contribute to the education, support, and mentoring of students and less experienced team members
- Maintain professional standards of practice and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
About you
You are an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in dynamic critical care environments and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Minimum of 12 months’ experience working in either Emergency or Intensive Care nursing
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills relevant to critical care nursing practice
- Ability to provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining contemporary clinical practice
- Availability to work a minimum of two shifts per week as part of the casual pool
